Wow, I read all of these other comments andMar 18 2005Astronomy
Wow, I read all of these other comments and was pretty surprised to find how hard people worked to get in.. I had a 3.0 GPA and an 1180 SAT score, but I had tons of extracurriculars and a stellar rec from my counselor. I also attended summer programs at University of Vermont and Harvard Univ. for college credit, so I'm sure that factored in as well..

If you want to go to Michigan, start planning early in your HS career. Be ready to explain any bad grades, and prepare well for the ACT/SAT. Get involved in extracurriculars.

First of all, i'm in-state and i think allJan 11 2005PreMed and Medical
first of all, i'm in-state and i think all mich residents should consider themselves fortunate that they can pay in-state tuition and get an absolutely kickass education. moving on heres what i did to get in: i was very lazy, refused to do my homework, had virtually no extracurriculars whotsoever, spent all of HS skateboarding, playing nintendo and hanging out with friends. i ended HS w/ a 2.8 gpa but. but i was a 'legacy' and i pwned my SAT's. i had a 1550 SAT(800M,750V) and perfect SAT2's in bio, chem, physics, and math. so that's prolly what got me in.

when i got here, i decided that i had to some work if i wanted to make above minimum wage so i put in some effort to maintain a high gpa and studied my ass of for the m-cats. eventually got into the med-school here which is one of the very best in the country. so i guess it all worked out for me but i wouldnt necessarily reccomend doing what i did. :-)
SAT: 1540 Male

If you want to get into Michigan, then applyMay 20 2004Other
If you want to get into Michigan, then apply early before the spots fill up.

If you are from in-state, then you will need good grades in order to be accepted. Follow your gut as to whether or not you attend. (And remember, it's better than going to Michigan State.)

If you are not from Michigan, then you will find it extremely difficult to get into this school; prospective out-of-staters need excellent grades and extracurriculars. My advice to those who live outside of Michigan: don't apply. Even if you get in, it's not worth it.
ACT: 31 Male
